The 2010 Santa Clarita Marathon

Registration Opens July 1, 2010!

The Marathon

The Santa Clarita Marathon, which is an official qualifying race for the Boston Marathon, will test the physical boundaries of the human body on Sunday, November 7, 2010. The day will include a full marathon, a half marathon, a 5K Run/Walk and a Kid K run. All races will begin at 7:00 a.m., with the exception of the Kid K, which will begin at 8:30 a.m.

2006 Marathon This year the Santa Clarita Marathon Race Committee will be using the newly open trails along the San Francisquito Creek to be part of the 2010 Half Marathon and Marathon. The new trail system will be used for the majority of the race and will reduce the amount of street closure on McBean Parkway.

To kick off the marathon and get in the racing spirit, the City will host a pre-race Health and Fitness Expo for everyone to enjoy on Saturday, November 6, 2010. The free Expo will be held at the Hyatt Valencia from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will feature dozens of health-related vendors and information booths. Here, runners may sign up for events and race participants can pick up race bibs and T-shirts.

Marathon—7:00 AM

Starting between the Hyatt Valencia and Westfield Valencia Town Center, the revised looped course follows 26.2 miles of roadways, paved City trails and paseos to its finish line at Westfield Valencia Town Center. The Marathon is a Boston qualifier and is USATF certified.

Half Marathon—7:00 AM

The Half Marathon starts simultaneously with the Marathon, following the same course but breaking away near mile 12 for a 13.1 mile finish at Westfield Valencia Town Center. The elevation for the Marathon and Half Marathon is relatively flat, but includes some switchbacks and short inclines and declines USA Track and Field on paseo bridges crossing over and under main City streets.

5K Run/Walk—7:00 AM

The 5K Run/Walk is a looped 3.1 mile course that will start and end at Westfield Valencia Town Center. A great event for all ages and all paces.

Kid K Fun Run—8:30 AM

Designed to promote health and fitness among children, this non-competitive event for ages 12 and under is a quarter-mile course starting and finishing at Westfield Valencia Town Center. Parents may accompany small children.

A chip timing system will be used for the Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K. To score in these races, you must wear the chip on your shoe during the race and turn it in after crossing the finish line.
